The Grand River Little League approach to Coach Pitch and the introduction of a moving ball is not revolutionary, but it is not the standard approach like a pitching machine. We use live pitching from a coach, and also give the option to the player at any time in the at-bat to change to a tee if they like. Coaches are on the field with the players behind them mentoring them.
But more importantly the season is broken into thirds:
First section - Total developmental approach with interactive and dynamic practices for all teams. All practice together and go through stations. Key is to learn the skills necessary
Second Section is quick pre-game practice with both teams to provide overview of a key element and focal point for the game, play an instructional style game - meaning we stop the game to explain how to play better
Third section is competitive play, and instruction provided on the bench, yet we still have a focal point lesson for the game to reference to.
Games/Practices are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00pm - 7:45 pm. May 11th to late July 18th
